The High Street is one of the oldest parts of the village, and has architecture dating back to before the 16th Century.

The Ancient Shepherds pub (see links page ) is one of our favourite local pub/restaurants, serving a range of classic dishes for both lunchtimes and evening meals. A lighter bar menu is also available at lunchtimes. We've always found the food well-cooked and well-presented, and the traditional pub atmosphere warm and friendly. Prices are roughly £4-£5 for starter, £8-£12 for main course. Reservations usually advisable for the restaurant in the evenings. |
Regretfully, the Post Office and shop on the high street ceased trading in June 2005, after no-one could be found to take it on after the owners moved. It is now a private house, although the separate shop unit is still available to let |
